Wat zijn SLE kites?

Supported Leading Edge ofwel de SLE kites hebben een extra bridles (touwtjes) die de leading edge (hoofd tube) ondersteunen. Door deze techniek kunnen de designers meer performance uit een kite halen. Een groot voordeel van deze SLE kites is de enorme depower (Krachtverlies door de bar simpelweg van je af te drukken). Kitesurfen is door de totale krachtverlies nu echt veilig. Naast de safety zijn de SLE kites ook gemakkelijk te herstarten, er zit natuurlijk verschil tussen de verschillende fabrikanten maar over het algemeen is de herstart (relaunch) een stuk gemakkelijker bij de SLE kites dan de C-shaped kites.

Ander voordeel van deze kites is dat je de SLE 's vroeger kunt varen (meer low-end door een vlakker profiel) en langer kunt doorvaren (meer high-end door de enorme depower). Ook hier geldt dat het per model en fabrikant enig verschil zit in het vlieg gedrag van de SLE's! Neemt niet weg dat zijn allround prestaties meestal een stuk beter zijn als de meeste C shaped kites. Let wel, met een te grote SLE kite is zelfs kitesurfen met een totale depower natuurlijk niet veilig Enkel de bar aantrekken zal je een enorme lift geven. Goed voor de old school en hangtime riders die weten hoe ze moeten zweven. Minder voor de beginnende kitesurfers die nog leren om perfect te sturen. Dus de SLE kites zijn allround alleen moet je net als met alle andere kites wel weten met welke maat je in welke windkracht moet varen.

Als afsluiter nog een kitetip voor de opstappers: Kies je kite minstens een maat kleiner dan de gemiddelde kiters van jouw gewicht. Zit je altijd goed met de grootte van je kite!

The people of visualperformers have send us a copy of there new kiteboarding production: Close up to review.

We can say that the makers have made a very nice film, showing us the drive of the young pro\'s to be the best. The film not only shows a lineup of new school tricks but also a view in the daily lives of the pro\'s , what they have to do to get to the top and what they do when they go freeriding.

There\'s a short overview of the history of kiteboarding and a very nice wave section.

We can only say one thing: get your hands on a copy and enjoy it on a big screen, well done guys!

Verslag North Sea Cup 10&11 mei



Dit weekend vond voor de 18e keer de internationale wind- en kitesurfwedstrijd plaats aan de Outside te Oostende.
Het waren drukke dagen, de lucht werd immers ook gekleurd door het Lotto Kite Festival.
Het mooie weer en de NSC brachten vele kijklustigen naar het strand.

De windmeter werd net niet genoeg gestreeld om de kitesurf boardercross te laten doorgaan. Gelukkig hadden de organisatoren een alternatief achter de hand! Zo werden de kiters uitgedaagd om zich te tonen bij het wake boarden. Daar liet Christof Tack zich gelden als de sterkste, hij ging er met de eerste plaats vandoor. De spectaculairste crash kon op naam van Arno geschreven worden. De hoofdprijs - een 7 daagse reis naar de Costa Brava - werd verloot, hij ging naar Axel Tack.


De sfeer leefde zelfs, na een zwoele dag op het strand, verder in de late uurtjes. Andy en Randy zorgden voor de beats, samen met Lionheartcrew, onder het alziende oog van Kimtje en Jelle.

Dit weekend had zowel voor jong als oud een verrassende waaier aan activiteiten en nieuwigheden in petto.

Cyclone Custom Wave Quad Series
Sizes : 5ft6 , 5ft8 , 5ft10 6ft and 6ft2Tail : Sqaush or Swallow
Construction : Epoxy vacuumed polyester core with composite / kevlar top sheet layup . Fins are fibreglass handcrafed FCS type set up . Single to double concave .
User :The Qaud fin was designed for all round use and is especially at home in onshore mushy conditions , It is also a favourite of mine whilst surfing backhand , this is mainly due to the Quad being a lot looser and easier to slide the tail out through the turns .The sqaush tail will allow for a bit more forgiveness whilst the swallow tail will give a little more bite .This board is perfect for the first time user coming across from the TT.

Cyclone Custom Wave Thruster series .
Sizes : 5ft6 , 5ft8 , 5ft10 6ft and 6ft2 : Squash Tail
Construction : Epoxy vacuumed polyester core with composite / kevlar top sheet layup . Fins are fibreglass handcrafed FCS type set up .Single to double concave
User : The Thruster was designed for those clean down the line carving conditions , allowing for max pressure through botttom and top turns . No sliding the tail out through those gouges , just rock solid full throttle carves.

User : Everyone !! Allowing for 3 different fin configurations this is the genuine all rounder . Without having to compromise you can change the performance of the board to suit the conditions . The difference being that when in 5 fin mode the board will be able to be pushed to the max in the strongest winds and biggest waves . Awesome upwind ability and yet super fast .
